Join us Labor Day Weekend on Saturday September 3rd 2011 for a day of fun!Downtown Buchanan, Michigan will come alive with shopping, music, food, craft brews, wine, and live music by Monte Michel Blue, followed with Jazz by The Juli Wood Trio. Also appearing at the Gazebo between sets, will be musician Deborrah Wyndham. In addition, you'll be dazzled by juried artists and artisans offering fine works of art.Come to one of Michigan's newest National Register Historic Districts on Buchanan's Front and Main Streets. Enjoy the morning at our Farmers market, or perhaps enjoy music as you stroll our Historic District.Stroll to the Buchanan Commons area and visit Pears Mill, then enjoy periodic full dress Union and Confederate Army enactments, complete with live artillary. A truly historic weekend.Shopkeepers, gallery owners, and artists will offer exhibits and goods under tents and in transitioning 19th century buildings with fine art, furnishings, antiques, textiles and more.Evening is magical. From 6PM to 10PM, as dusk fades and street lights flicker, relax to the music of monTe micHel bLeu, Deborrah Wyndham and the Juli Wood Wood trio, while you sip fine wine or craft brews by Round Barn Winery. Morning Event Highlights Include:Buchanan Farmers Market opens, breakfast and coffee at multiple shops on Redbud, Front and Main Street, artists and artisans setting up exhibiits in Harger Park, Shops opening on Days Avenue, Front Street and Main Street, and D.J. Justin Lovelady opens event with music.Afternoon Event Highlights Include:At Noon, Southwestern Michigan's Wine Country will open for tasting when the Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor, open and Buchanan Moose Lodge 449 begins serving at the Round Barn Wine and Craft Brew Garden.Soon after, Pears Mill will open and feature Blacksmithing, Fiber Arts, Crafting with Gourds and Spinners, as well as Civil War Artifact Exhibits, Books and information within Historic Pears Mill. As the day continues, you can enjoy Full Dress Civil War Enactments with specialwhich features Hannah Carlisle, a famous Civil War Nurse and family members.
